A Multidisciplinary Platform for Brain–Bladder–Spine Medicine
Mehrad Neurourology Hub is a multidisciplinary clinical, educational, and collaborative platform dedicated to advancing the understanding and management of disorders involving the brain–spinal cord–bladder axis and the broader pelvic neurofunctional system.
Neurourological function represents a complex interaction between the central and peripheral nervous systems, lower urinary tract, pelvic floor, bowel, sexual function, sleep, mobility, cognition, and aging. Disorders affecting one component of this network may have significant consequences across others. Our approach therefore moves beyond organ-based management toward an integrated, neurofunctional and patient-centered model of care.
The 5B Framework
The 5B concept — Brain • Bladder • Bed • Balance • Beyond — represents the clinical and academic framework of Mehrad Neurourology Hub.
Brain
The neurological regulation of lower urinary tract, bowel, pelvic floor, and sexual function, including the impact of neurological disease, neural pathways, cognition, and central nervous system control.
Bladder
Comprehensive assessment and management of lower urinary tract dysfunction, urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, voiding dysfunction, neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction, and related functional urological disorders.
Bed
The interaction between urinary function and sleep physiology, with particular emphasis on nocturia, nocturnal polyuria, nocturnal enuresis, sleep disruption, and the bidirectional relationship between sleep and lower urinary tract symptoms.
Balance
The integration of pelvic floor function, mobility, gait, falls risk, posture, physical independence, rehabilitation, and functional aging into the assessment of patients with neuro-urological disorders.
Beyond
Expanding the neuro-urological perspective toward interconnected domains including sexual medicine, menopause, healthy longevity, geriatric urology, bowel dysfunction, rehabilitation, lifestyle medicine, and quality of life.

From Organ-Based Urology to Network-Based Medicine
The Hub aims to promote a systems-based model of neuro-urological care, recognizing that bladder dysfunction should often be interpreted within its neurological, musculoskeletal, sleep, hormonal, sexual, and functional context.
Our mission extends beyond clinical care to multidisciplinary education, scientific exchange, clinical research, innovation, and international collaboration. We seek to facilitate communication among urologists, neurologists, urogynecologists, physiatrists, pelvic floor specialists, geriatricians, sleep specialists, neuroscientists, and other professionals involved in functional pelvic health.
Through this integrated approach, Mehrad Neurourology Hub aims to contribute to a new generation of neuro-urology in which clinical assessment, research, education, and collaboration are connected around one central principle:
The bladder is not an isolated organ — it is part of a dynamic brain–spine–body network.
Brain • Bladder • Bed • Balance • Beyond
Connecting disciplines. Advancing neuro-urology. Improving lives.
